Spring, Sprang, Sprung!

It’s time to utilize the potential energy coiled up within you, and spring forth with power and vigor! The season is about to change from winter to spring. As the trees begin to bud and the blossoms prepare to return, ask yourself: “Is it time for me to spring forward? Have I allowed myself you be in a never-ending state of hibernation? Which dreams and goals have I been sleeping on? How much more time will I allow to slip by without accomplishing what I want to do? What can I do to spring my thing?”

There is truth in the saying, “To everything there is a season.” However, you must be sure you are not making excuses for missing “The Time Is Now” moments in your life. Like Sir Isaac Newton said, “A body at rest tends to remain at rest. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. Bodies will continue in their current state, whether at rest or in motion, unless acted on by a greater outside force.” If you’ve been sitting hard and heavy on your spring, it may take a bit of nudging to get you moving. There may be people in your life, who are always standing by ready to cheer you on and support your endeavors. Even so, the real push has to come from within. You must have a reason and a desire. Without reason there is no focus and aim. Find one. What will be the greater good if you did this thing you want/need to do? Let that be your prize and keep your eye on it. Without desire, it’s hard to get moving. What puts fire under your butt? This is the really hard one. How many people do you know, who have a need to do something, and no desire? They may need to change their health habits, residence, mate, or even car. They may have to be acted upon by “the greater outside force”. This can be the most effective—but most uncomfortable way of getting someone’s spring sprung. It’s usually some result or consequence of something they previously had a choice about—but presently it’s out of their control.

When it comes to your dreams and goals take them off the back burners and put them up front next to or in the oven with the other things you’re cooking. Yes, I like food metaphors (last month I told you to get a cookbook for the lemons in your life.) If you have a lot of steps to take before you’re ready to bring it forward, you are in the preparatory stage. Do what needs to be done to get ready to be ready. Be realistic about all else that’s going on and create a realistic timeline with benchmarks—and stick to it! Be gentle—yet firm—with yourself.

All in all, the first step is deciding you are going to move from where you presently are, to where you want to be—regardless of how long it has taken you up until now. One pitfall to avoid is thinking about all of the time you previously wasted. Never allow those thoughts to discourage you in the present moment. Use that thought only to give you momentum. That was then. Today is a new day for you, with a different way of being. You already have the potential. Now, as you do what it takes to actualize your dreams, you will experience an increase in your confidence and experience the fulfillment of your goals. Then—and only then—is the time for looking back, to see how far you have come forward. You can reflect or may even want to shout it out,

“MY SPRING SPRANG, AND I HAVE SPRUNG!”
