Waste Not Want Not Part 1

An incredible opportunity is upon the people of the entire world. Though it’s not happening in a way any of us consciously chose, it’s here, nonetheless. Who would have thought a pandemic could be a potential catalyze for more love, peace and a cleaner and better world?

There are people who-- despite all of the tragedy of mass sickness and death-- are holding a vision of a new and better world. They are tapping into the light which is behind the cloud of darkness and despair. They are honoring their colleagues, co-workers, friends, family members and strangers who have fallen ill and died, by deciding to be different in some small and big ways, to create a better world and healthier planet. They are not allowing this great sacrifice and opportunity to be for naught.

Many of us have been talking about peace on Earth and good will toward every women, child and man for decades. Have we ever really visualized what that would look like and how would we achieve it? Considering the trajectory human- kind has been on, it would take a powerful force to make a shift from our tendencies of being the most destructive organism on the planet to a symbiotic and harmonious existence. It makes sense in order for our present world to transform—evolve—something would have to dramatically impact us. For goodness sake, let it be this, instead of something more catastrophic and devastating. We do have that power!

We can at least begin to think about how we can make something positive come out of this. What do we really—I mean really-want? What does healing, peace and joy for ALL look and feel like? It’s a good time to begin learning what can we do for ourselves, instead of sitting around speaking of impending doom and global conspiracies, and waiting for them to happen or someone else to serve up your salvation on a platter for you. What is your part? How much time and energy do you put in your own research and for alternatives to what you consider unacceptable for you and others?

This is a crack in time. A fissure between how things were and how we truly want them to be. As we see animals enjoying the freedom to reclaim their natural habitat, the human species can begin to think about returning to our true nature. It doesn’t mean we all need to run into the forest (some of us may just want and need to do exactly that—and that’s perfectly alright.) It means rebalancing--re-evaluating what doesn’t work for us as a civilization--changing and accepting what we need to. We all know in the core of our beings this IS a wake-up call.

Unfortunately, we aren’t all listening and thinking this way. Not everyone is focused on how to be and make things better for everyone when we step out of quarantine. So many want things to go back to the way it all was. The understandable desperation to simply be able to keep a roof over head and food in the belly, will override any thought of looking at the entire picture of what needs to change. Survival has always been a justifiable distraction. Too many are in situations where they are focused on grabbing the fish that are flung at them and cannot see they would benefit in the long run from learning how to fish. For others profits over what’s truly right and just is paramount. So, for some this will be a wasted opportunity or one which slips by. They can’t or won’t even consider what they can do, in even the slightest way to make a truly better life, world and a better Earth.

Everything begins with a feeling and a thought. We don’t have to figure out the details. Just begin to imagine and feel a world where all have freedom, beauty, satisfaction, health, prosperity, purpose and all the good you would want for yourself and all you love. It may sound like a fantasy. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, if we choose to take steps out of quarantine and turn that dream into a reality.
